Home Quality Mark
HQM is an independently assessed certification scheme for new homes in England, Scotland and Wales. It is part of the BREEAM family of schemes to assess sustainability in the built environment. It uses simple 5-star rating and a set of indicators to measure the standard of a home’s design, construction, running costs and sustainability.
Although not currently mandatory, more developers and housebuilders are using HQM as a measure of a home’s quality, cost effectiveness and sustainability, to allow potential home buyers gain an understand their home and their investment.
• My Cost: an indication of the overall running costs
• My Wellbeing: how the home will affect the occupier’s health and wellbeing
• My Footprint: how the home will affect the environment during both construction and use
The assessment is split into three sections:
1. Our Surroundings
2. My Home
3. Delivery
CDP are qualified HQM Assessors and can ensure that you receive project specific guidance and support at the right time to enable you to reach your target HQM star rating, and how to potentially improve on this.
Our standard assessment service includes:-
• Design team HQM workshop to undertake initial assessment of the proposed development
• Guidance report advising on how to comply with HQM credits and the information which
should be gathered by the design team
• Issuing proforma’s to assist the team to gather the required information
• Ongoing support by an experienced assessor during the design process
• Design stage certification report and liaison with BRE during quality assurance process
• Ongoing support by an experienced assessor leading up to the post construction
review (including assistance with evidence gathering)
• Post construction certification report and liaison with BRE during quality assurance process
